Sheila Weaver is a seasoned educator, sports administrator, coach, and youth sports organizer based in Washington, DC. Sheila has worked as a Summer Camp Facilitator and Volleyball Instructor for the D.C. Recreation Department Summer Program. She is currently working with the D.C. Recreation Department Girls and Women Sport, Health, and Fitness Group where she contributes her expertise to empower girls and women in sports. Her background includes serving as the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach at The University of The District of Columbia, Chair and Teacher of Health and Physical Education at R.L. Osborne H.S., and roles as Athletic Director, Physical Education teacher, and Dean of Students at various institutions. She has significantly impacted sports programs, with notable achievements, which include leading the DC JRS Volleyball Club to the Chesapeake Regional Championships and developing players who earned recognition as Washington Post All-Met and Gatorade Players of the Year. Sheila’s dedication to the betterment of student-athletes extends to her role as the Founder of the Academic and Athletic Alliance, a nonprofit that has thrived for three decades.
Her educational background, including a B.S.E. in Health and Physical Education from Drake University and an M.A. in Health and Physical Education from Kent State University, underscores her commitment to the holistic development of young athletes.
