CHAPTER LEADERSHIP

CHAPTER DIRECTOR

Roy Eavins

As a child growing up in Palm Beach and Miami, Florida Roy Mitchell Eavins II knew he was different and that he wanted to be his own boss. Adopting the philosophies of WEB DuBoise, Booker T. Washington and Marcus Garvey the Founder & President/CEO of Jericho Broadcast Networks decided to work hard to help “Change This World” and bring his own dreams to fruition.

As an on-air radio/tv personality, former dean at two different Charter Schools in Orange County, FL and as CrimePrevention Specialist for the Tallahassee Urban League, Eavins has seen first-hand the struggles of the urban community and the lack of quality programming geared toward African Americans and decided to launch his own broadcast company to combat this disparity. In 1998 Jericho Broadcast Networks became possibly the first African American Commercially owned and operated Internet based broadcasting company in the United States. JBN offers a plethora of programming to urban audiences. V108-The VIBE Radio properties which supply the best in hip hop, R & B, jazz and gospel around the clock. The Black College Sports Network covers all Historically Black Colleges and Universities as well as broadcasting various sporting events of schools in the SIAC, CIAA, MEAC,
SWAC and other select universities. The Jericho Television Network properties offer online shows that address news, faith, music, health, technology, finances and much more. JBN has published two comic books through Pyramid Comix and a magazine entitled Today’s Renaissance Man through Crescent Publishing.

The company’s name is derived from the Biblical city of Jericho that was successfully claimed for the Chosen People. Just like those Chosen People Eavins’ unwavering spirit of determination and faith motivates him to strive daily to uphold JBN’s motto “Breaking down the walls of communication.”, and the company philosophy of “I AM MY BROTHERS KEEPER!!!” We have a responsibility to remember the struggles of the past, preserve the dreams of our ancestors, and build the future for our children! “We intend to  ChangeTheWorld by offering quality urban programming via the Internet. This programming will not only entertain but uplift and educate. While JBN is unapologetically a Black network and our target market is People of African Descent, our programming is such that anyone who is interested in intelligent discussions and good entertainment will gain from and enjoy our Networks weather they are Black, White, Asian, Hispanic or what ever.“

According to the visionary JBN is off to a good start, but there is much more work to be done. In the future Eavins plans to continue motivational speaking. His target markets for that are organizations that have youth programs. As Crime Prevention Specialist of the Tallahassee Urban League and a consultant for the Florida Dept. of Juvenile Justice, he spoke to groups as large as 1500 with his “ChoicesTM” program. He also uses his expertise in the media and communication to facilitate trainings for companies, groups, and individual business owners that want to improve their communications with each other and the general public. He also assist entrepreneurs in developing business and marketing plans, is a political media consultant who has worked on several state wide campaigns, and has long term plans for urban redevelopment. This is done via his E3 – Engage. Evaluate?  execute!TM Seminar series.

Eavins attended Florida A&M University. He is also a proud member of and former international Director of Publicity for Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., former President and member of the Central Florida Association of Black Journalist. The 52-year-old is the father of three children Brittani, Myesha & Samuel and resides in Atlanta, GA. JBN has offices in Eatonville, FL (Orlando area), Los Angeles, CA & Corporate headquarters in Atlanta, GA. www.MyJBN.com www.MyBCSN.com www.MyBCSN.net
