Sports Philanthropy Showcase

The South Florida Sports Philanthropy Showcase will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the Pavilion Grille, 301 Yamato Road, Boca Raton, FL 33431.

 

Come learn more about the amazing nonprofits that we are Showcasing! Their incredible work in the South Florida community is an inspiration!

The Showcase will start at 6:00 pm and include a Reception and Networking. 

Dinner, Awards, Silent Auction will start at 7:00 p.m.  

 

Thursday Night Football party for the game between the Minnesota Vikings at the Philadelphia Eagles will be held afterwards.

Jason Pierre-Paul is an NFL Alumni and Two-time Super Bowl Champion. 

 

He played college football at South Florida and was drafted by the New York Giants in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft.  

 

With the Giants, Pierre-Paul made two Pro Bowls, was first-team All-Pro and won Super Bowl XLVI over the New England Patriots. With the Buccaneers, Pierre-Paul made his third Pro Bowl and won Super Bowl LV. 

Rickey Jackson is a Super Bowl Champion and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He played college football at Pittsburgh and was a linebacker in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints (1981–1993) and the San Francisco 49ers (1994–1995). 

He led the team’s Dome Patrol linebacker corps while playing with the Saints. In 1997, Jackson was inducted into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame. Jackson won a Super Bowl ring with the 49ers in Super Bowl XXIX one year before retiring.

On February 7, 2010, Jackson was selected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Major Wright is a father, businessman, philanthropist and retired NFL player. Wright played for the University of Florida, winning the 2008 National Championship during his time there then succeeded in the NFL with 4 seasons for the Chicago Bears and 2 seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
 
Major Wright wrote and self published his first book; Major Pain: Confessions of a Smash-Mouth Safety; a memoir about the obstacles Wright faced throughout his career on and off the field. Throughout his journey through life, Wright has found that if you surround yourself with positive energy, keep positive thoughts and are consistent in whatever you want to achieve, nothing can get in your way except yourself.

THEO DORSEY
Sports Anchor for ESPN 106.3 FM, WPTV and WFLX

Theo Dorsey is an award-winning sports anchor for ESPN 106.3 FM, WPTV and WFLX.  The Missouri City, Texas, native comes to West Palm Beach with a background in reporting both sports and news.

You can hear him talk football Fridays on ESPN 106.3 FM’s “Josh Cohen and the HomeTeam.”

The Hampton University graduate got his start in the business at WALB in south Georgia, where he became the first Black sports director in the station’s history.

In 2018, the Georgia Association of Broadcasters named him the best sports anchor thanks to his coverage of local high school sports, The Masters and, most importantly, Southeastern Conference football.

Theo went on to serve as a news reporter and fill-in sports anchor in Greensboro, North Carolina, at WGHP before eventually taking his talents to South Florida.

Kristoria “Krissy” Haynes was born on October 12, 2010. She received her first racquet at age 2. At age 3, she moved with her father, Christopher Haynes (mother Karoadus Stallings deceased), to Delray Beach, Florida.

She became more interested in tennis by watching Coco Gauff, the Williams sisters and others on television with her grandmother, Dorothy Haynes. Krissy began practicing more when she received a new racquet at age 8. She also took part in some Delray Beach Youth Tennis Foundation programs. Krissy got the “tennis bug” and started playing in tournaments. Currently, at age 12 she has won 1st and 2nd place in at least a dozen  USTA tournaments. Krissy played in the Little Mo Regional Tournament, run by the Maureen Connolly Brinker Foundation, in New York.

Krissy is really motivated in school and tennis. Her dream is to play at the college level and beyond!
