Sierra Delta SBLV Salute To Service

February 6, 2021

On a sunny and bright morning along the Tampa Riverwalk, Sierra Delta hosted a “Salute-To-Service-Scroll”.   Over 100 veterans and supporters gathered at Ulele Restaurant.  The event was headlined by CENTCOM Commanding General, General Kenneth McKenzie & Miss America 2020, Camille Schrier.

Sierra Delta’s BJ Ganem led the festivities and spent a lot of time with Dave Stevens as they showed the power of the program. BJ shared his insight and numbers about how these service dogs make such an enormous impact on the lives of veterans with injuries or disabilities.

This event was unlike the last nine Super Bowls, where a team of Wounded Warrior Amputees has taken on a team of NFL Alumni in a flag football game to try and raise awareness for the need to care for our nation’s disabled veterans (please see the three videos

Unfortunately, their Super Bowl LV game had to be cancelled due to COVID, but the need to continue to call attention to the veterans’ health issues that remain.

The crowd turned out to honor these heroes and we saw support from all corners of the Tampa Bay business community and Super Bowl contingents.  Civic leaders, media, sponsors, NFL Alumni representatives and many others participated in the event and the march that walked down the Riverfront pathway.
