Podcast: Lauren Rhodes, Joliet Slammers

Listen in as our host Roy Kessel, Founder of the Sports Philanthropy Network, sits down with Lauren Rhodes from the Joliet Slammers to discuss how the team engages the community, works with schools to encourage reading and helps organizations raise money through ticket promotions.

The Slammers have a unique mascot in the form of J.L. Bird (pronounced Jailbird) in recognition of Joliet’s long-time prison facility. But J.L. Bird is a popular mascot and Lauren explains how he interacts with the schools and how many appearances he makes over the year.
