Dallas Stars Organizational Spotlight

MISSION: The heart of the Dallas Stars Foundation is to invest in our communities by creating unique programs that nurture and enrich the lives of those in need.

PROGRAMS:

Stick With ReadingThe Dallas Stars Stick with Reading program encourages elementary-aged students to foster a love for reading. This incentive-based program will inspire and help motivate students to meet and exceed their reading goals. The Dallas Stars Foundation’s goal is to work with teachers to encourage students to develop reading habits that they will practice throughout their lifetime.

Fitness Stars: A fun and interactive way to learn math and science for 4th and 5th graders, using the game of hockey, plus a hockey takeover in gym class!

Phase 1: Future Goals (In School Curriculum)

Phase 2: PE Takeover (School Visit)

Badges on the Blue Line: The Dallas Stars Foundation partnered with the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation and the Dallas Police Hockey Foundation to start the very first Badges on the Blue Line program. Badges on the Blue Line is a juvenile crime prevention initiative that uses hockey-themed programs to build relationships both on and off the court with at-risk youth. These activities improve relationships between law enforcement and kids as they learn about cooperation, collaboration, and mutual respect.

Community Tickets: The community tickets program allows the organization and Victory Club Members the opportunity to enrich the community by donating their tickets to various charities and civic programs throughout the area. Victory Club Members and corporations who donate tickets back to the Foundation are eligible for a tax deduction. The Community Tickets program gives many non-profit organizations the opportunity to spread the excitement of Dallas Stars hockey to their employees, volunteers and designated beneficiaries.

Friends of the Finns Youth Hockey Scholarship: The Dallas Stars Foundation, created in 1998, focuses its efforts on providing support to the youth skating community within the Dallas/Forth Worth area StarCenters, so they may lead quality lives and have the opportunity to succeed at their respective sports. In partnership with the Dallas Stars Foundation, the Friends of the Finns Youth Hockey Scholarship was created by Miro Heiskanen, Esa Lindell and Roope Hintz to provide monetary assistance and support for youth hockey players in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

50/50 Raffle: The Dallas Stars Foundation 50/50 Raffle raises funds for worthwhile North Texas charities while giving you the chance to walk away with a nightly cash prize. 50/50 raffle tickets are sold during each Stars home game, and a drawing is held at the beginning of the 3rd period to determine the lucky winner of half the total pot for that game. The other half of the proceeds go to the Dallas Stars Foundation to support children’s causes across North Texas and community grants.

21st Annual Casino Night: The most recent casino night, presented by Park Place Lexus, raised more than $420,000 for the Dallas Stars Foundation.
