Together, the philanthropies will educate other organizations on inclusivity through webinars and training programs, and will set an example of true accessibility and respect.
This week’s news features fundraising events like Kayaking for Cancer 2024 in Indiana, Jaguars’ Play Football Month in Jacksonville, and CP Soccer Atlanta. Carl Lewis and Michael Phelps were honored in Paris. Minnesota’s Cargill billionaire’s foundation closed after $500 million in donations. Other highlights include the Sturgis Rally, WightAID’s UK donations, and various US initiatives supporting healthcare, education, and sports.
The class of 2024 was enshrined in Canton. As always, the highlight of the weekend is hearing the speeches in which the players thanked the people who have assisted them in reaching the pinnacle of the sport. Listening to the legends tell us how they overcame life’s challenges and used their resiliency to achieve their success.
The highlight of each year’s Gold Jacket Dinner is where the class of 2024 is awarded their jackets. After Dan Fouts introduced over 100 current HOF members, the new enshrinees go through “the Gauntlet” where they are greeted by the Gold Jackets in attendance.
A hot muggy evening turned into thunderstorms and chaos as the Chicago Bears and Houston Texans took to the field for this year’s annual Hall of Fame Game. The game was called off due to lightning as the players and fans were evacuated. But for fans around the country it didn’t put a damper on the kick-off to Enshrinement Weekend.
Sports Philanthropy Network (SPN) and OmegaJam have teamed up to create a charitable contest platform that will help nonprofit organizations increase donations for their philanthropic activities. This partnership brings together SPN’s expertise in sports philanthropy and OmegaJam’s innovative approach of utilizing a charity ticketing system to raise donations for community-building projects.
