Vinay is serving on Panel 3: Measuring Your Impact.

Vinay Mullick is in his third year as Managing Director for UpMetrics and is responsible for the creation and growth of UpMetrics’​ Chicago office and the Midwest Region. 

UpMetrics is a socially driven technology company that provides tools and services for programs and funders to analyze, interpret, and learn from data to make informed decisions, build capacity, and tell their stories.  Prior to his current role, Vinay, a Teach For America alumnus, worked on Chicago’s Southside for 12 years as a teacher, coach, activities director, and athletic director.  

From 2007 to 2016, Vinay worked as the Director of Athletics and Activities for the Perspectives Charter Schools Network.  Perspectives Charter Schools is a network of five open enrollment charter schools on Chicago’s South Side serving 2,000 students in grades 6 through 12.   Vinay served as the founding athletic director, and built the Perspectives Charter Schools Athletic Department from its infancy.  By 2016, Vinay had grown the department by five times, and at that time the department supported approximately 700 student-athletes and 85 coaches, and fielded 55 teams.

As an athletic director, Vinay was very involved at the state and national levels.  Vinay sat on numerous state advisory committees, served as an elected Legislative Commission member to the Illinois High School State Association, and served on the executive board of the Illinois Athletic Directors Association. Nationally, Vinay plays an active role in the creation of professional development resources for urban athletic directors.  He is a national faculty member for the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) and has assisted with the creation and development for the professional development course – Role of the Urban Athletic Director.  He is a regular presenter at local and national conferences on topics related to urban athletics, data-driven decision making, and social emotional learning. Vinay has also achieved his Certified Master Athletic Administration (CMAA) certification through the NIAAA – Which is the highest level of certification an Athletic Director can receive.

Vinay’s work has been recognized by his peers on numerous occasions for the following awards:  Division 1 Athletic Director of the Year by the Illinois Athletic Directors Association, Outstanding Young Alumni Award by Northern Illinois University, and was named a Local Hero by ESPN Chicago Radio.  Community wise, Vinay sits on the Northern Illinois University Alumni Board of Directors, is a member of the Perspectives Charter Schools Education committee, and also is an enthusiastic  coach for his children’s basketball and t-ball teams.   Vinay has a BS in Industrial Engineering from Northern Illinois University, a Masters in Secondary Education, and a Masters in School Counseling.
