The Sports Philanthropy World Congress is on August 9th in Chicago.
There is a plethora of news around the Sports Philanthropy world this week that makes it amazing to see all of the philanthropic efforts being done around the country. Summer may be coming to a close but philanthropy does not have an end date.
- August 8, 2019 – Chris Hubbard, NFL player for the Pittsburgh Steelers says that he wants to halt the stigma of mental health and foster discussion
- August 8, 2019 – Famous athletes that make it to the top of their leagues these days make a lot of money and for some athletes they like to give back to their communities
- August 8, 2019 – Shammi Rana, rapporteur for UNESCO’s Traditional Sports and Games (TSG), and Hari Banaag met with US representatives in California to discuss promoting traditional sports and games
- August 7, 2019 – Iris Slappendel, a retired professional cyclist and Dutch Champion has stepped forward to be the voice for promoting gender equality in the sport
- August 7, 2019 – MLB employees filled 500 backpacks with school supplies today and these backpacks will go to children of the Baseball Assistance Team recipients
- August 7, 2019 – Eric and Vizma Sprott made a matching $3 Million donation to the CANFUND to support Canadian athletes training for the Olympics and other world competitions
