MISSION: Formed in August 2020, the Senators Community Foundation is built on three pillars: mind, body, and soul. Their main focuses are on strengthening the connection between the team and the community by addressing the issues of accessibility and inclusion.
PROGRAMS:
I Love to Skate: Partnered with Canadian Tire Jumpstart and the City of Ottawa, this program aids communities where children may encounter barriers to physical activity opportunities due to financial constraints or lack of volunteer support. Those who participate in this free four weeklong program are provided with all the necessary equipment needed to enjoy their time on the ice.
Equipment For Kids: The Ottawa Senators Foundation has joined forces with Canadian Tire and Hockey Eastern Ontario to make hockey more accessible to disadvantaged youth across the region by collecting gently used and new hockey equipment.
Catch the Ace: Catch the Ace is a weekly 50/50 raffle that fans can not only participate in for the chance to win the jackpot, but also help support their community. 50% of all SENS Catch the Ace ticket sales go towards organizations and programs that are making a difference for children.
THREE PILLARS:
Mind:
Mental Health – The goal is to educate the public about the resources available, provide support, and unite the community against stigma.
Education – Strengthening quality and equity in their education system is a core priority for the Foundation.
Body:
Sports & Recreation – As a sports-focused organization, it is their goal to break down the barriers to recreation.
Healthcare – Raising funds and awareness for the organizations where the “biggest battles are being fought every day”.
Soul:
Community Programming – The Senators Foundation and Hockey Club provide a variety of community-based programming to support initiatives that enhance and entice communities across eastern Ontario and western Quebec.
