Miami Marlins Foundation Spotlight

Mission

With the support of their partners, stakeholders, and fans, the Miami Marlins Foundation makes an impact by creating opportunities for youth to stay active, achieve academic success, and build leadership skills. Their wellness programs address barriers that students face with academic success, food insecurity, healthy eating habits, and fitness. In the area of empowerment, they focus on college scholarships, leadership development and providing educational resources to students and teachers. Their youth baseball & softball programs promote well-being, proper nutrition, and support social and emotional learning that builds champions on and off the field. They utilize the power of baseball and the support of the Miami Marlins to run and fund programs that enable our community to thrive.

Programs

Home Plate Meals Relief Fund:

The Miami Marlins Foundation launched the Home Plate Meals Relief Fund with an initial investment of $100,000 to make a Marlins Impact in addressing urgent food security issues across the South Florida community due to COVID-19. Funds will be used to support the growing food security needs in South Florida, which have been heightened by COVID-19, including local children, seniors, and impacted working families – to ensure the local community receives the necessary proper nutrition.

Home Plate Meals Food Pantry:

In an effort to combat the challenges of food insecurity within our schools, the Miami Marlins Foundation created food pantries in two neighborhood schools. A school pantry provides a variety of readily accessible food to low-income students and their families, in a safe environment with which they are already familiar. A pantry has a focus on providing not only non-perishables, but also fresh fruits and vegetables through a monthly farmers market style distribution

Mattingly's Futuras Estrellas:

Granting South Florida area youth and their families the opportunity to attend a Miami Marlins game and enjoy an unforgettable baseball experience, this program engages with non-profit organizations making an impact in education as well as serving children and families through the arts.

Better Halves:

The Marlins Better Halves team up on community service projects throughout the season. Their annual fundraiser, the Better Halves Basket Auction, features baseball memorabilia and items unique to the hobbies and personalities of their significant others. This past year proceeds from the auction benefited Alex’s Place at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami.

50/50 Raffle:

The Miami Marlins Foundation 50/50 raffle will benefit Wellness, Empowerment, and Youth Baseball & Softball programs. The 50/50 Raffle will occur weekly during the Miami Marlins 2021 Season. Fans in Florida can purchase tickets during Miami Marlins home games at LoanDepot park and online during the applicable purchase period noted below with the winner drawn on the date listed below. Fans who purchase tickets online any day within the purchase period will be eligible to win 50% of the net proceeds raised during the purchase period, with the remaining proceeds benefiting the Wellness, Empowerment, and Youth Baseball & Softball programs of the Miami Marlins Foundation.
