Dare2tri Mission Statement and Organization Description

Our mission is to enhance the lives of athletes with physical disabilities and visual impairments by building confidence, community, health and wellness through swimming, biking, and running.

Dare2tri is a 501c-3 nonprofit organization that serves youth, adults, and injured service members who have a physical disability such as amputation, spinal cord injury, stroke, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, as well as those with visual impairments or blindness by providing adaptive equipment, training opportunities, qualified coaching, and financial and transportation support. We serve athletes of all ability levels from beginner to elite.

Overview

Dare2tri is seeking smart and driven aspiring marketers to join our Chicago-based team as interns for the Summer term (May through August 2020; start and end dates can accommodate the needs of individual interns, however, availability during the busy June camp season is critical.)

Marketing and Development interns needs to be highly collaborative creative thinkers with the ability to work across a number of different disciplines to assist Dare2tri in the planning, implementation and execution of sponsorship activation, provide marketing insight and support, and/or support the planning and execution of several development/fundraising programs.

Interns will work in close collaboration with a small team, and will serve a crucial role in the implementation of a new sponsorship program for Dare2tri. The role will work closely with the Director of Marketing and Development as the person primarily responsible for fulfillment of sponsorship commitments, provide support in the research and preparation of sponsorship solicitations, and assist with a variety of Fundraising, Marketing, and Development related activities.

Opportunity Areas Include:

Sponsorship – Solicitation, Activation, Reporting Content Production – Social Media, Digital, Video Donor Cultivation and Stewardship – Marketing Collateral, Research, Direct Mail Special Event Planning & Management – Evening2Inspire Gala, Donor Events

Responsibilities:

• Assist fellow team members in providing thought leadership and guidance on marketing strategies and activation platforms for both active and potential sponsors. • Acquire comprehensive understanding of various sponsor marketing objectives and how Dare2tri can play a part in helping to accomplish those goals • Assist with development of sponsorship proposals, presentation decks, and recaps • Assist in a variety of activities related to sponsorship activation, including • Coordinating fulfillment of sponsorship activation commitments • Develop and manage list of social media content requirements, create and manage process for gathering and tracking of content • Ensure appropriate social media content is prepared and gathered, including photos, video, athlete bios and interviews • Content marketing • Participate in internal planning sessions and brainstorms • Project management and cross-department coordination • Assist with Dare2tri development/fundraising activities including • Corporate Volunteer days • Help develop communications materials and collateral for donor cultivation and stewardship • Provide assistance as needed to support planning, marketing, and preparations for fall Evening2Inspire fundraising gala and other potential special events

Key Qualifications • Availability to attend a significant portion of weekend camps during the month of June (June 4-7, Hammond, IN; June 11-14, Pleasant Prairie, WI; June 25-28, Pleasant Prairie, WI) • Current undergraduate or graduate student • Effective communicator, exemplary verbal and written communication skills • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, well developed time management skills • Detail and process-oriented while demonstrating expansive thinking • Ability to produce high quality work at a fast pace • Flexibility to work both independently and as part of a team

• Mission driven and excited to use skills to help grow a small nonprofit • Passionate about digital media and the marketing landscape • Open to working with athletes with disabilities • Comfortable in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Experience with Adobe Photoshop/InDesign/Illustrator and ability to create original content a plus • Experience with Squarespace, MailChimp, Eventbrite, Neon CRM a plus

Work Environment

Dare2tri is a small non-profit experiencing rapid growth. The Dare2tri team is comprised of 7 full time staff, several part-time staff, contract coaches and staff, and the addition of a number of interns during the summer to support the increased programming surrounding our camps and outdoor practices. Dare2tri has a hybrid workplace model that includes coworking days on the north side of Chicago and work from home, and a series of days & weekend camps that take place primarily in June.

This position is ideal for a self-starter who can thrive in an entrepreneurial environment. Candidates must be based in the Chicago-land area for the internship period.
