The second annual Coalition of Athletic Communities for Mental Health conference is designed to bring together interested parties to discuss issues that are important to athletics and mental health, identify shared best practices, and develop partnerships to implement solutions. The 3-day conference will take place at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (Anschutz Health Sciences Building, 1890 N. Revere Ct., Aurora, CO, 80045. Conference attendance is targeted at athletes, coaches, administrators and other athletics staff, parents and other caregivers, academics, health care providers, and others interested in the intersection of mental health and athletics. Conference topics are intended to bring together different perspectives and viewpoints with a focus on translation from research to implementation. Topics will be for athletics at all levels and presentations will be delivered by international experts, current and former athletes, foundation program leaders, athletic program leaders, sports medicine providers, and caregivers. Presentations will include both plenary and breakout sessions, and will focus on topics including stigma, eating disorders, addictions, suicide prevention, team-based care, evidence-based mental health care, and implementation science. Topics include injuries and mental health, identity and self-worth outside of sport, pressure and performance, debunking “mental toughness”, peer and other supports, and traumatic brain injuries and mental health.
