Mission
The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation is dedicated to the health and wellness of children in central Ohio. They dedicate time, resources and financial support to organizations making a difference in the areas of pediatric cancer, reading, fitness through play and the growth and development of amateur hockey. They have provided more than $11.4 million to our community since the team’s inception in 2000.
Health and Wellness Initiatives
Hockey Fights Cancer: On one special game, the Blue Jackets also wear specially designed lavender jerseys during pregame warm-ups to honor those who’ve battled and are currently battling cancer.
Pediatric Cancer Heroes: During an event like Hockey Fights Cancer Night, many patients and their families were treated to a game. Some call it therapy through distraction, but most of the kids just call it fun.
Annual Hospital Visit: On this day, all CBJ players visit children receiving various treatments at NCH. During this visit, the players provide each child with a Courage Kit with CBJ toys.
Community Initiatives
Recycle the Game: In an effort to eliminate barriers to playing hockey, fans are encouraged to donate new or gently used equipment throughout the year to be sold.
Blood Drive: The Columbus Blue Jackets and Ohio Health team up with American Red Cross during September to make a goal to help save lives at the annual “Hockey: It’s In Your Blood!” blood drive
Community MVP: The Columbus Blue Jackets recognize a member of our roster for their outstanding achievements in the community each season.
Toy Drive: The Blue Jackets support the Big 10TV Toy Drive to collect toys at an in-game toy drive for the Salvation Army’s Christmas cheer program, which makes holiday gifts possible for families in need.
Player Day of Service: The Blue Jackets players spend a day of the ice helping serve the community at various non-profits.

Societal Benefit Initiatives
Military Appreciation: The Blue Jackets salute those who served or are currently serving the nation’s armed forces during the club’s annual Military Appreciation Night.
NHL Hockey is for Everyone: CBJ has a variety of programs that cater to hockey players of all types and abilities. We believe that everyone who wants to participate in the game of hockey should have that ability.
NHL Green: The Columbus Blue Jackets join the National Hockey League this March in support of NHL Green! The NHL is committed to promoting sustainable business practices with Clubs, players, fans, employees and partners, so all can be more responsible stewards of the planet by reducing the use of resources, and reusing and recycling equipment and materials.
