Keep Pounding Initiative Spotligh

The Keep Pounding Initiative and movement was born from the legacy of SamMills and was established in 2003 to honor Sam Mills and Mark Fields, who had both been recently diagnosed with cancer. The initiative has lead the Panthers to support Atrium Health’s cancer programs and other cancer research efforts.

Keep Pounding Programs

Keep Pounding Fund:

Since 2003, the Keep Pounding Fund has supported cancer research efforts through Atrium Health. This initiative has raised almost $3 million in funds that go towards cancer research efforts at Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute and Atrium Health Levine Children’s.

Keep Pounding Kid:

The Atrium Health Keep Pounding Kid is a child from the Levine’s Children’s Hospital that the Panther’s provide a unique, once-in-a-lifetime game day experience to create a lasting memory during their health battle. During 2020, the Panthers were able to recognize and celebrate a Keep Pounding Kid for each home game in a virtual interview with their Team Reporter, Kristen Balboni. Keep Pounding 5K:

The Keep Pounding 5K is held every Spring and has a unique course that includes running the inside of Bank of America Stadium and an exciting finish on the field. Funds from this event support adult and pediatric cancer research as well as patient support programs at Atrium Health’s Levine Cancer Institute and Levine Children’s Hospital. Keep Pounding For A Crucial Catch–The Carolina Panthers honor those who are fighting or have overcome their battle with cancer. The team has a Crucial Catch home game every October where they recognize local fighters and survivors, providing them with the ultimate fan experience.

Keep Pounding Online Auction:

The Panthers give allow fans to bid on and purchase one-of-a-kind signed items and other favorites through the Keep Pounding Auction, hosted by NFLAuction. All proceeds from the auction benefit the Keep Pounding Fund and important cancer research efforts at the Levine Cancer Institute and Levine Children’s Hospital at CarolinasMedical Center.

Keep Pounding License Plates:

The Carolina Panthers give drivers in North and SouthCarolina the opportunity to purchase specialty license plates to show support for their favorite team. Proceeds from these purchases benefit the Keep Pounding Fund of Atrium HealthFoundation and Carolina Panthers Charities.

Keep Pounding Game Day Program:

The Keep Pounding Game Day Program allowsPanthers’ fans to win a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Fans are selected by exemplifying the character and legacy of Sam Mill’s and the teams’ “Keep Pounding” mantra. They will receive four tickets, a parking pass, and a game day gift bag.

Carolina Panthers Play 60:

The Carolina Panthers participate in the NFL’s Play 60 challenge by encouraging youth to have healthy eating habits and exercise throughout schools. The Panthers also have a Play 60 Camp in North and South Carolina that allows young athletes to experience NFL training at no cost. The camp serves as an outdoor classroom that teaches children football drills and skills.

My Cause, My Cleats:

Panthers players wear custom footwear to raise awareness of charities important to them. Their cleats show their commitment to charitable causes and can be seen during games.
