Northwestern Gridiron Network: Night for Victory

One of the sweetest sets of elevator doors we have ever seen greeted us as we went up to the rooftop terrace at the Godfrey Hotel in Chicago for the Northwestern Gridiron Network’s Night for Victory, sponsored by Purple Arch Ventures.

Purple Arch Ventures spared no expense to make this an elegant night. Aside from the elevator doors, there were purple paw prints on the floor throughout the lobby and plenty of decorations around the facility. highlighting the Northwestern brand and its reputation for excellence.

The evening started with appetizers and drinks and the unlike most fundraising events that we attend, this was an early arriving crowd. There was a lot of energy throughout the room as the Northwestern Football coaches and athletic department staff circulated and spent time speaking to many of the boosters.

After a couple of hours of mingling, Head Football Coach Pat Fitzgerald got down to the business of raising money for custom fitted helmets for the football team. While the cause is certainly worthwhile, we would prefer Coach didn’t reference the helmets as a way to prevent concussions, since we know from following the concussion conversation closely that concussions cannot be prevented.

There was an impressive array of live auction items which included sidelines experiences, meals with Coach Fitz and golfing at some of the best courses in the United States..

It was a beautiful setting on what turned out to be a beautiful evening. GO CATS!
